Nepal Visa and Permits

To begin your journey with Glacier Safari Treks in Nepal, you’ll need a visa to enter the country, except if you’re an Indian national. Upon arrival at Kathmandu airport or designated India-Nepal border checkpoints, you can obtain visas. Make sure your passport remains valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date and have one passport-sized ID photo ready.

For visa fees, the rates are as follows:

  • 15 days: USD 30
  • 30 days: USD 50
  • 90 days: USD 125

If you plan to extend your stay, visa extensions are available. An additional 15 days costs USD 45, and beyond that, it’s USD 5 per day. You can process extensions at the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or through Nepalese Embassies/Consulates worldwide.

Certain travelers are eligible for gratis/free visas:

  • Children under 10 years old (excluding USA nationals)
  • Chinese nationals enjoy up to 150 days of visa-free entry.

Trekking Permits

Exploring Nepal’s diverse trekking regions requires the Trekker’s Information Management System (TIMS) card, available for 10 Euros. Additional permits specific to each region or national park you plan to visit are also necessary.

To facilitate your trekking experience, Glacier Safari Treks requires the following documents:

  • A photocopy of your passport’s bio-data page
  • Specific numbers of passport-sized photos (details vary by region)
    – Everest and Langtang: 2 photos
    – Manaslu: 5 photos
    – Mustang: 4 photos
    – Nar-Phu: 4 photos
    – Annapurna: 2 photos
    – Other regions: 2 photos

Alternatively, if you prefer to arrange your trek independently, permits can be obtained directly from the Nepal Tourism Board. You can find more information and initiate the permit process through their official website or contact them via email. When submitting your ID photos electronically, only one photo is necessary, simplifying the process if you choose this option.
